The Lady Tiger basketball team was firing on all cylinders with a lopsided 69-27 win in their season opener at Hillcrest Tuesday.

“We came out with great energy right from the start tonight,” Coach Scott Moore said. “Our press forced several quick turnovers and the girls did a great job of converting those into points.”

Senior Kianna Yates paced the Tigers with a game-high 33 points, outscoring the entire Hillcrest team by 6 points.

“Kianna had a great game,” Moore added. “She was unstoppable in the open floor and the girls really fed off of her success.”

All eight Lady Tigers contributed to the scoreboard for Coach Moore. Maggie Boyd finished with 8 points, Lexa Youngblood added 7 points, Landry Cochran and Jaidyn Brunnert chipped in with 6 points each, Ashlyn Brust added 4 points, Lauren Choate finished with 3 points and Trisha Kanas had 2 points to round out the scoring for the Tigers.

“I was extremely pleased with our passing tonight,” said Moore. “Our players took pride in finding the open teammate and we scored a lot of baskets on the extra pass tonight.”

The Lady Tigers host their annual tournament next week.
