Lady Tiger swimmers dominate in own Invitational

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Lady Tiger swim team took top honors with 383 points in the Carthage Invitational Friday, Jan. 7, 2021. The Tigers won 10 of the 11 events.

“Anytime you can place 3 or 4 swimmers in the top 12 you are going to have success,” said Carthage Coach Braden McBride.

Six teams competed in the invitational with Nevada taking second place with 162 points. Marshfield finished in third place with 159 points. Hillcrest was fourth with 120 points followed by fifth place Seymour, 79 points, and Lamar finished sixth with 55 points.

The 200 Yard Medley Relay team of Aubree Santillan, Cassidy Smith, Madison Riley and Hope Fultz finished first with a time of 2:02.02.

In the 200 Yard Free, Riley (205.03) and Ava Lacey (2:12.50) finished first and second respectively.

Hope Fultz took top position in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:39.61 followed by Victoria Martinez at 2:42.44.

Smith (26.83) and Santillan (28.37) finished one, two in the 50 Yard Free. Riley (1:04.34) and Martinez (1:11.12) finished one, two in the 100 Yard Fly.

Cassidy Smith won the 100 Yard Free with a time of 58.50 followed by Hope Fultz with a time of 1:02.84.

Lacey won the 500 Yard Free finishing with a time of 6:00.86.

The relay team of Joey Hettinger, Martinez, Reese Lee and Lacey finished second (1:58.50) just .25 seconds behind Nevada in the 200 Yard Free Relay.

Santillan won the 100 Yard Back with a time of 1:11.74. Alexis Fosdisk finished first in the 100 Yard Breast with a time of 1:31.33.

The relay team of Riley, Smith, Fultz and Santillan took top honors in the 400 Yard Free Relay with a time of 4:42.88.

The ladies next head to Columbia on Friday and Saturday for the COMO Invitational.
