Carthage 8th Grade Continues Gridiron Dominance, Improves to 4-0

This past Thursday, the Carthage Tigers football team defeated Neosho 58 – 14. The Tigers scored on the opening kickoff when Reid Kyte returned it 60-yards for a TD. The Tigers continued to score 30 points in the 1st quarter and scored a total of 58 points in the game.

Carthage had a few injuries during the game but the substitutes did a great job stepping in as the Tigers continued to score in the game. The offense played well and the defense contained the Neosho passing attack as they moved to 4-0 on the season.

Karter Manzer had 2 rushing TD’s and also passed for 3 more touchdowns. Reid Kyte had two touchdowns, one on a pass from Manzer and another on a KO return. Colton Charleston scored two receiving touchdowns from Manzer. Cam Shield had a pick 6 for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter. The last score of the night was a 45-yard run from Anthony Manibussan.

1st Quarter – 30 to 7
Reid Kyte 60 Yard KO return for a TD. The XPT ran in by Karter Manzer.
Manzer 3-yard pass to Colton Charleston. The XPT ran in by Manzer
Manzer scored on a 40-yard run for a TD.
Manzer 5-yard pass to Charleston. The XPT ran in by Manzer.
Neosho scored on a 40-yard TD pass.

2nd Quarter – 38 to 14
Manzer 20-yard pass to Kyte. The XPT was a pass from Manzer to Shields.
Neosho ran in for a 5-yard run for a TD.

3rd Quarter – 52 to 14
Cam Shields had a 40-yard pick 6 for a TD.
Manzer had a 70-yard run for a TD. Bryce Morris ran in the XPT.

4th Quarter – 58 to 14
Anthony Manibussan had a 45-yard run for a TD

The B team also won 24 to 3. Miquel Cruz had 3 touchdowns and Landon Jones scored one touchdown. The next game for the Tigers is October 9th @ Willard. The game starts at 5:30 p.m.
