Yvonne Fortner, 87, passed away September 1, 2019 at Carthage Health & Rehabilitation. Yvonne was born April 20, 1932 in Halltown, MO to Lorn Roscoe and Margarite “Rodgers” Goodman. She attended Mt. Vernon High School, was a nurses’ aid at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, and also worked at Jimmie Fortner Oil Company. She attended the First Christian Church in Carthage.
Yvonne was united in marriage to Jimmie Fortner on July 12, 1953 at their pastor’s home in Ash Grove, MO; he survives.
Yvonne is also survived by one brother, Douglas Goodman and wife Jane of Southwest Missouri and Ecuador.
Yvonne was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Sue Fortner, in 2009; and one sister, Anita Dunn in 1986.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019. Services will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery near Jasper.
