Troy Leo Maggard, 81, of Alba, MO passed away peacefully Saturday, August 1, 2020, at his son’s home in Purcell, MO surrounded by his family.
Troy was born March 25, 1939 in Chesapeake, MO to Ethel “Maggard” Mills. He was raised by his beloved grandparents, Frank and Maggie “Willoughby” Maggard, who he knew as his Ma and Pa. Troy was a retired, self-employed tree trimmer. His favorite pastimes were visiting with family and telling lots of stories, watching wrestling, Cardinal baseball games and the old Looney Tunes cartoons.
Troy was united in marriage to Dora Johnson in Carthage on September 5, 1974; she survives.
Troy is also survived by five children, Brenda McCoy (William) of Neck City, MO, Dwayne Maggard (Traci) of Purcell, MO, Jerry Johnson of Lexington, IN, Sheila Maggard of Lamar, MO and Lisa Cusick of Joplin, MO; one brother, Frank Mills of La Russell, MO; three sisters, Mary “Mills” Vaughn of Carthage, Carolyn “Mills” Carhan of Carthage and Donna “Mills” Summers of Sarcoxie, MO, along with 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Troy was preceded in death by one son, Randy Maggard; two daughters, Norma and Linda Maggard; one granddaughter, Stephanie McCoy; and one sister, Shirley “Mills” Pummell.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Reeds Cemetery.
