Pilgrim “Bud” Martin Dye

Pilgrim Martin “Bud” Dye, age 90, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Tuesday evening, September 3, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. Bud was born February 18, 1929 in Commerce, Oklahoma to the late Leedy Vernon Dye, Sr. and Beaula May (Huddleston) Dye. He was a veteran, serving his country with the United States Army in Korea. He worked as a carpenter and as a construction supervisor in southern California. Bud married Lonene Hayes on May 7, 1950, in Los Angeles, California; she survives. Bud loved his family and especially his grandchildren.

Additional survivors include three sons, Gregory Dye (Linda), Carthage, Stephen Dye (Susan), Joplin, and David Dye (Tina), Webb City, Missouri; and fourteen grandchildren, Melissa Reese, Rebecca Doss, Amanda Baker, Heather Diggs, Heidi Tandy, Caleb Dye, Christoffer Dye, Joshua Dye, Sarah Ezell, Travis Goodhue, Joshua Goodhue, Daniel Goodhue, Joseph Gray, and Sarah Goodhue; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, L.V. Dye, Jr.; and three sisters, Gertie Hudson, Lela Williams and Aletha Cline.

Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, September 13, 2019 at Knell Mortuary. Interment will follow the service at Carterville Cemetery, Carterville, Missouri. Memorial gifts are suggested to Disabled Veterans National Foundation in care of Knell Mortuary.
