Martha Ann Tillock, 90, Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Carthage, Missouri, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, December 29, 2022, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri. Martha was born December 1, 1932, in Jasper, Missouri, the daughter of Victor Allen Favinger and Canova (Spielman) Favinger. She was a 1951 graduate of Carthage High School. Martha married William E. “Bill” Tillock on November 22, 1968, in Carthage, Missouri. She worked for the Justice Department in Kansas City, Missouri for 4 years, and would then go on to work for the Jasper County ASCS Office as a program assistant for over 31 years. Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage, and a member of the Women’s Organization in the church. She volunteered at the Red Cross for many years serving refreshments. Her hobbies included: traveling, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, sewing, needlework and crocheting.

Survivors include three nieces, Margaret Richardson (Gary), Deborah Swarens (Tom), and Louella Phipps; three nephews, Steve Wagner, Chris Wagner, and Mike Tillock; four great-nieces, Sara Hall (Wesley), Miriam Minter (Donnie), Emily Haven (Levi), and Lynne McGhee (Alan); ten great-great-nieces and nephews, Donnie Minter, Jr., Xander Haven, J.D. Minter, Gavin McGhee, Chloe Jenkins, Warner Hall, Kylie McGhee, Liam Jenkins, L. Jay Minter, and Gustin Hall; a sister-in-law, Anna Lee Tillock; and many extended family members and friends. Martha will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Canova Favinger; her husband, Bill Tillock; a sister, Edith Mae Downey; and a niece, Barbara Meyers.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Montclair, The Maples, and Cox South Hospital staff for taking such good care of Martha over the past few days, weeks and years. A special thank you to Dr. Kamel, Dr. Zubair, and Dr. Ellingsworth for keeping her comfortable.

Graveside funeral services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Sarcoxie Cemetery, Sarcoxie, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm, prior to the service, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to Disabled American Veterans in care of Knell Mortuary.
