Leon Dee Stump, 76, Carthage, Missouri, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Missouri.
Leon was born October 28, 1944, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Herman and Evelyn (Howerton) Stump. Leon married the love of his life, Darlene Riese, on May 18, 1974, in West Columbia, Texas. He was pastor of Victory Christian Center in Fidelity, Missouri since 1984. He enjoyed finding unique and eclectic items, mostly of historical nature. Leon devoted his life to the study and teaching of God’s word.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Darlene Stump; two sons, Andy Stump and Nathan Stump; a daughter, Deanne Copeland; a brother David Stump; and all their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Stump; a sister, Beverly Leacock; and a grandson, Lincoln Stump.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm, Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at Victory Christian Center, Carthage. Leon will lie in state for those who wish to sign the register book and pay respects from 3-6 pm, Monday, January 4, 2021, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Interment will follow the service at Fidelity Cemetery, Carthage.
