Joe T. Borland

Joe T. Borland, 75, passed into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, August 27, 2018 at his home in Carthage, MO. Joe was born November 17, 1942 in Appleton City, MO to Virgil and Constance “Chitwood” Borland.

Joe lived in Carthage all his life, served four years in the United States Air Force and worked for over 30 years at Atlas / I.C.I.
Joe was united in marriage to Melva “Jordan” on September 5, 1964 in Carthage; she survives. To their union, three children were born, Kevin Borland (Steph) and twin daughters Tammy Borland Chairez and Shelly Borland Root (Wes).

Joe is also survived by seven grandchildren, Chance Borland (Allie), Chase Borland, Chelsa Borland, Garrett Roberts, Kelsie Roberts, Kole Borland (Yahaira Hernandez), and Jordan Chairez; seven great grandchildren, Cayden, Benten, Ahkilleus and Ares Borland, Rhyder Dumas, Sayler Briggs and Versace Beckner; two brothers, Glen Borland and Gary Borland (Pam); one sister, Nadine Smith; in-laws from North Carolina and Florida; sister-in-law Marilyn Swanger and Family.

Joe also leaves behind his special golf buddies and a lot of good friends. Joe was a great golfer and loved the game along with his brothers, which were all inducted into the Joplin Golf Hall of Fame.

Joe was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Dress for both is casual. Burial will be at Park Cemetery in Carthage.

Contributions may be made to the Carthage Golf Academy in care of Ulmer Funeral. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
