Ermal Paul “EP” Davis

Ermal Paul “EP” Davis of Lyons, Kansas, was born on July 28, 1936. He passed away November 15, 2025, at Country Living of Lyons.

Ermal is definitely one-of-a-kind! He is a unique person with endless talents that is hard to find! He leads by example and is a true professional and gentleman in every aspect of his life. Ermal left such a lasting impression on anyone he met, those who knew him, or whom he came in contact with. To anyone who knew “EP”, you knew one-of-the finest men of human integrity.

A few of Ermal’s accomplishments: Alumni of Sterling College, Lyons Municipal Judge (40+ years), Certified Kansas Supreme Court, Airline Transport Pilot, Transport Examiner, Certified Flight Instructor, and retirement from the FAA.

Too many flight privileges to list…

Prior to Ermal’s retirement from the FAA, he was honored by receiving the Wright Brothers Award. Only 2,687 pilots out of 940,000 pilots in the entire nation receives this prestigious award.

Ermal is preceded in death by his parents; Edwin and Mable (Moss) Davis; brother, Malcom Ray “Mickey” Davis of Riverside, CA; and daughter, Rebecca “Becci” Davis, March 6, 2007. Ermal is survived by his wife, Irene (Adams) Davis of Lyons of 62 years; and son, Darius and Lana (Lang) of Olathe, KS.

A private family burial will be held at Dudenville Cemetery, Dudenville, Missouri. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
