Dorothy Ann (Suttles) Earl, a Pierce City Native and Jasper Resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, November 17, 2021, at the age of 82.

Born on May 21, 1939, Dorothy was the only daughter of Charles L. and Anna Mae (Canady) Suttles. They proceeded her in death, along with one brother, Ronnie Suttles. She was united in matrimony to Robert Earl on April 7, 1972, in Pierce City, MO and was blessed to gain three more children. Together, they had 7 children, all of whom survive.

Dorothy loved being a beautician. After completing beauty school in Neosho, she spent over fifty years styling hair. Dorothy loved her family and together they would live Jasper, Waterloo, Omaha, and Carlsbad. An amazing quilter, Dorothy and her mother, Anna, loved to sew, embroidery, and quilt. She loved her dogs, Missy, Mia, and Muffet, watching game shows, doing puzzles, and reading books.

Robert and Dorothy would retired to Jasper, where she continued to cut hair and spend time with family and friends. After Robert’s death, Dorothy moved to Omaha, where she was active in a book club with her friends and loved vacationing with her daughters.

After beating breast cancer in 1982, Dorothy was diagnosed with a second bout of cancer, in October of 2021. However, she chose not to fight it this time and spent her remaining days surrounded by her family and friends and doing the things she loved.

Dorothy’s parents, brother, and husband, all proceeded her in death. She is survived by her 7 children: Cinda (Harry) Korn of Havre de Grace, MD; Gary (Valerie) Earl of Jasper, MO; Sara Jo (Tom) Hartley, Carthage, MO; Denice (Matt) Mathews, Sarcoxie, MO; Pam (John) Rathbun; Peggy (Lorri) Buchannan; Debbie (Tarci) Buchannan, all of Omaha, NE; 20 Grandchildren, 45 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandson; 2 nephews, 1 niece, and an amazing group of friends.

A funeral service will be held at Weng’s Funeral Home in Jasper, MO on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00 am with Burial Following at Mitchel Cemetery.
