Our beautiful, fun-loving daughter, Carol Jeanne Hubbs Palmieri passed away suddenly on July 1, 2025, at the age of 65. She was born to Johnny Gene Johnson on October 26, 1959, and adopted by William L. Hubbs. Her mother was Carolyn S. (Kost) Oplotnik and father Donald R. Oplotnik. She graduated from Carl Junction with the class of 1977. She was a registered nurse and worked for several years in surgery at Freeman Hospital, McCune-Brooks Hospital, and Landmark Hospital. She went to work for Benefit Management where she retired. She enjoyed her booth at Junkersville and working part-time at Fabric Merchant. She loved quilting and attending retreats.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Johnny Johnson, William Hubbs, her grandmothers and grandfathers, also her aunt Gayle M (Kost Stark), cousins Billy and Randy Stark.
She is survived by her mother and father Carolyn S. Oplotnik and Donald R. Oplotnik, two daughters, Jennifer Spencer and husband James Spencer, Melissa Campbell (Sorrick), sister Patricia Barlow and husband Mark Barlow, brothers Brian Oplotnik and wife Debra Oplotnik, Brad Oplotnik and wife Anita Oplotnik, Bruce Oplotnik and wife Denise Oplotnik, two uncles Charles R. Kost and Larry T. Kost. Granddaughters Kallie Spencer, Jaelyn Spencer, Emalena Spencer, Lucy Campbell, grandson Jude Burgin, husband John Palmieri and several nephews and nieces and several cousins.
There will be a service for Jeanne at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage. There will be a visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 PM before the service, which will also be held at the Ulmer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, any contributions can be made to either the Joplin or Carthage Humane Societies.
