CARTHAGE, Mo. — Vision Carthage, in collaboration with the City of Carthage, Carthage Water & Electric Plant, the Parks Department and the Police Department is proud to announce a partnership for an overhaul of two City parking lots at 6th & Main and 5th & Grant Streets.  The non-profit organization proposed architectural renderings a few years ago to the City to increase the safety, lighting and overall feel of the parking lots to encourage the community and tourists alike to park off the Historic Downtown Square and enjoy all of the shops, restaurants and boutiques the Historic District has to offer. A beautification element has also been included complete with landscaping, benches, and trash cans.

Vision Carthage will be responsible for installing the landscaping while the Parks Department will maintain the space moving forward. Carthage Water & Electric will be installing new lighting as well as an electric car charging station.  The Public Works Department plans to continue overhauling the remainder of the public city parking lots over the next few years as budgeting allows.

Work is slated to begin by May 1.
