On 6-3-2026, at approximately 5:30 PM., Jasper County Deputies responded to a call of a disturbance with shots fired near the area of County Road 70 and Fir Rd in Reeds, Mo.
When Deputies arrived, they located the male victim in his vehicle along with two juveniles. The male stated he had gone to the residence near this location to retrieve personal items for one of the juveniles.
As the male exited his vehicle to pick up the items, the suspect identified as Dalton Pollard, 36, of Reeds, pulled out a gun and pressed it to his head. As the male retreated back to his vehicle, Pollard fired a single round, striking the vehicle. The male victim and the two juveniles were in the car when he fired the round, however, no one was injured.
Pollard was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage, Mo. Charges for Assault 1st, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child have been sent to the Jasper County Prosecutor for review.

On 06/03/2026 I, Sergeant Nathan Deherrera #371 responded to 7040 Fir Road outside Reeds Missouri within Jasper County for multiple 911 calls of shots being fired. I contacted Dalton Pollard, who advised he had discharged a Ruger .44 Magnum at a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Colton Smith.Â
Dalton stated Colton had attempted to strike him with his vehicle prior to discharging the firearm. Other responding deputies contacted victim, Colton Smith as well as Juvenile Victims #1 and #2, at a nearby location. Colton advised he had been at the residence to pick up Juvenile Victim #1’s backpack for softball practice from Dalton, who is his ex-wife’s current husband.
Colton stated he exited his vehicle upon arrival and while approaching Dalton, Dalton brandished a fire arm and shoved it against his temple. Colton advised as he went to leave the residence, Dalton fired a single round which struck the side of his front driver side quarter panel. Colton recorded the incident on his cell phone.
I observed the video footage which showed Colton driving down the driveway, exiting his vehicle and speaking to Dalton. Dalton is observed walking down the driveway with the backpack intended for Juvenile Victim #1.
As Colton begins speaking to Dalton, Dalton is observed pulling the firearm from behind his back and pointing it at Colton and is heard stating “I can drop you right here in my yard in front of my camera”. Colton is seen turning away from Dalton and pointing as his camera in the vehicle as Dalton presses the firearm against Colton’s temple and pushing with enough force to move Colton’s head. The video stops prior to a firearm discharge.
Inside the vehicle at the time it was struck by gunfire was Juvenile Victim #1 and #2, Colton’s biological children. The firearm was located in a vehicle on Dalton’s property and seized as evidence. No physical evidence at the scene supported claims the vehicle had been driven towards Dalton. Dalton made statements Colton had threatened to assault him multiple times while at the residence, which were directly disputed by the video. The video was retained as evidence.
