Carthage Man Shot in Sarcoxie Assault

SARCOXIE, Mo. — On Oct. 7, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM., Jasper County Deputies and Detectives were dispatched to assist Sarcoxie Police Department with an assault where a male had been shot. This assault occurred at an address on Miner Street in Sarcoxie.

The male got a ride to a local hospital before law enforcement had arrived at the scene. The victim, a 49-year-old male from Carthage, had a gunshot wound to the back of his left arm that traveled into his back.

He was reported to be in stable condition.

After the initial interview with the victim and witnesses, the suspect was identified as Cory M. Franklin, 30, of Sarcoxie. Franklin was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage. Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has submitted charges for first degree assault to the Jasper County Prosecutor for review.
