Carthage man cited for DWI, left with serious injuries following crash on I-44

A Carthage man was cited for driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle crash 4:02 a.m. today on I-44 three miles west of Mount Vernon.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by David M. Styles, 25, Carthage, drove off the left side of the road through the median and stopped in the westbound lanes.

Styles, who was also cited for careless and imprudent driving, no valid license, failure to register motor vehicle, no insurance and no seat belt, was treated for serious injuries at Cox South Hospital, Springfield.
