Residents of La Russell have decided to form a new neighborhood watch group to start the New Year off as a safer community. This will be the first group of this kind for the town.
The residents held a meeting earlier this month with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office to discuss their wishes to start a group. Since then volunteers in the town have been working to make a community building ready so they have a place for their new group’s meetings.
The first official scheduled Neighborhood Watch meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 at their community building.
La Russell resides in both Jasper and Lawrence County, to accommodate this the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office will be working jointly with this group.
