JRCF grants $17,897 to 11 nonprofits

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Regional Community Foundation announced a total of $17,897 in grants to 11 nonprofits through its latest community grant round on Tuesday, Dec. 9. The grants, supported by the Duane and Edith Lawellin Legacy Fund and the Cloyd Carlin Charitable Fund, were presented during an event at the Joplin Chamber of Commerce.

The grants were distributed to the following organizations:

  • Aspire of Southwest Missouri: $2,000 for transportation assistance for single parent scholars.
  • Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks: $2,000 to support financial assistance for Joplin breast cancer patients and their families.
  • Children’s Haven: $2,000 to support the Pathways to School Success program.
  • Community Clinic of Southwest Missouri: $2,000 to support flu shot access.
  • Community Support Services of Missouri: $1,897.27 to support the purchase of communication tools for nonverbal individuals.
  • Fostering Hope: $1,000 to support the Caring Closet program.
  • Jasper County CASA: $2,000 to fund family support materials.
  • Joplin Photo ID Project: $1,000 for project support.
  • Ronald McDonald House: $1,000 to fund Comfort & Care welcome bags.
  • SHINE Joplin: $2,000 to purchase furniture.
  • Vita Nova Village: $1,000 for life skills training.

Following an application process, the recipients were selected by a volunteer committee of citizens in the Joplin region. The program is open each year to 501(c)3 nonprofits and agencies with similar tax-exempt status like schools, government entities and faith-based organizations.
