Carthage R-9 Board meets for work session, closed session

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage R-9 Board of Education met in special session on Monday, December 8, 2025, 5:45 pm, at the Early Childhood Center. Present were Board members Ms. Niki Cloud, Mr. Ryan Collier, Mrs. Lora Phelps, Dr. Mark Westhoff, Mr. Jeff Jones, Ms. Maria Sanchez, and Mr. Patrick Scott.

Ms. Niki Cloud led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The board members approved the agenda and adjourned to closed session to discuss personnel matters in compliance with Section 610.021 (3) of the Revised Statutes of Missouri.

In closed session the Board approved the following personnel action:

Approved the transfer of certified staff as presented.

Dustin Perkins, Activities Director, Carthage High School

The board members approved the agenda.

Mr. Dan Hill, Director of Facilities, provided the board a facility update on the Early Childhood Center and Pleasant Valley Elementary School.

Mr. Bryan Shallenburger, Director of Special Services, provided the board an early childhood programming update.

The administrators and board members conducted a facility tour of the Early Childhood Center and Pleasant Valley Elementary School.
