CHS Marching Band continues successful season

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage High School Marching Band has been working hard and as the saying goes…the hard work is paying off!

The band had great success at the Carl Junction Marching Festival on September17th . They took 1st place class for Preliminary Competition and the Drum Majors earned the Best Drum Major Caption advancing the band to Finals Competition. In Finals Competition, the band performed even better than in prelims and ended the night in our highest placement at the Carl Junction Festival, placing 3rd overall.

On September 24th, the marching band traveled to Oologah, Oklahoma for the Stallion Battalion Marching Festival. The band took 2nd place in class for the Preliminary Competition and the Percussion earned 2nd place in the percussion caption. Once again, this advanced the band to finals competition. In Finals Competition, the band took 2nd place overall, 2nd place Percussion caption, and 3rd place color guard caption.

This past weekend, on October 1st, the marching band traveled to Springfield, Missouri to the Valhalla Marching Festival. The band took 4th place in the largest class D bands competing against bands with 20-30 more members than our band and at that time were 5th place overall. In Finals competition, the band advanced to 4th place over all coming in .2 points away from 3rd place Lebanon. The color guard ended the finals competition in 2nd place and the percussion in 3rd place.

This coming weekend on October 8th, the band will compete in the War Eagle Classic Marching Festival in Rogers, Arkansas. This will be a big competition for the band and we are excited for the challenge. After this competition, the band will host the Maple Leaf Marching Festival at David Haffner Stadium on October 15th. The competition is set to begin at 12:00PM that day.
