Carthage Tiger Wrestling finishes a packed week with appearances at Junior Varsity and Varsity tournaments and a double dual versus Ozark and Reeds Spring. While the varsity team competed in the Harrisonville Holiday Tournament on Saturday, junior varsity took wrestlers to MacDonald County. Coach Kenny Brown was very pleased with his team’s performance at both levels.

“Harrisonville is a tough tournament. Since we’ve recently bumped up to Class 4 and now compete with the largest schools in the state, it’s definitely important to make sure we’re getting those bigger matches.  I’m very pleased with our third place finish among 24 teams.  Our boys came away with some battle scars this weekend, but wrestled extremely well.”

Further south, the junior varsity team walked away from McDonald County with 22 of 33 wrestlers medaling, nine of which were first place finishes.

“The numbers of our team are a force to be reckoned with this year, which can be very intimidating to other schools. It’s nice when you can back up those numbers with strong wins at most weight classes,” said Coach Brown.
