Late in the 2018-19 school year several members of our Carthage Tigers High School Band were surprised with a letter from Missouri Governor Mike Parsons office. Each of these students were invited to participate in a performing tour of Europe as Missouri’s Ambassadors of Music During the summer of 2020. Along with 300 other students from across the state, for 15 days over summer vacation, they will visit seven European countries. They will climb the Eiffel Tower, see the Mona Lisa for the first time, marvel at the wonders of the Alps, eat some of the world’s best chocolate and take a gondola ride through the canals of Venice. Performing concerts in each of the countries visited, Missouri Ambassadors of Music, Carthage Representatives will share in the cultures and traditions of countries across Europe through the common language of music. This provides our young people with the opportunity to expand their thresholds and gain a more global outlook.
While it is an honor to be selected as a Missouri Ambassadors of Music, it is costly. A group of band parents has pooled their resources and talents in an effort to raise the needed funds to help get these amazing musicians to this once in a lifetime opportunity. These kids have been working all summer doing bake sales, food truck Friday’s and selling raffle tickets for multiple items for the last few months. While the generosity of our community members that we have been able to reach has been tremendous, we are still well short of our fund-raising goals.
The students that we are raising funds for are: Senior tuba/Baritone/Trombone/Piano & guitar player Sam George; Junior Clarinet/Saxophone/Piano/Guitar player Jacob Reu; Senior Clarinet & Saxophone player Amanda Johnson; Sophomore Clarinet/Saxophone player Aubri Fisher; Sophomore Saxophone and Bassoon player Nathaniel Hudson; Junior Flute and Piano player Katherine Macy (not pictured).
The students need your support to help with this once in a life time opportunity. To see the many ways you can help these students visit their website https://musicambassadorsofcarthage.weebly.com/raffle-tickets.html. You can also follow them on their journey by liking the Missouri Ambassadors of Music, Carthage Representatives Facebook page.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support of the Missouri Ambassadors of Music, Carthage Representatives.
