Lady Tiger swimmers take first in Seymour

The Carthage Lady Tigers competed in the Seymour Duals held on January 3. Carthage scored 331 points, finishing in first place against Logan-Rogersville, Monett, West Plains, Springfield Central, Seymour, and Mountain View.

In the 200-yard Medley Relay, the team of Karsen Dininger, Carrie Wallace, Nadya Housh, and Cassidy Smith placed third to start the meet with 24 points for the team. The relay team of Jacey Dixon, Mackenzie Polley, Kalynn Korn, and Julianna Smith came in sixth place to bring in another 18 team points.

During the 200-yard Freestyle, Hope Fultz placed third with a new best time of 2:23.10 to gather 12 points, while Ainsley Frieling brought in 11 points for her fourth place finish with a time of 2:35.13. Dixon earned another three points with a tenth place finish and a time of 2:57.14.

In the 200-yard Individual Medley, Nadya Housh placed third with a new best time of 2:39.25 to add 12 points to the team total. Carrie Wallace placed sixth with a time of 2:48.85 to gather 9 more points. Dininger placed seventh with a time of 2:57.65, earning seven points for the team.

For the 50-yard Freestyle, Cassidy placed third with a time of 26.20 to bring home another 12 points, while Emily Calhoun placed eleventh, gathering two more points with a time of 31.51.

Housh placed first in the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 1:13.94 to earn 16 points, Eryn Wagoner placed fourth with a time of 1:25.30 for 11 more points, and Korn placed sixth to add another nine points to the team total with her time of 1:42.71.

In the 100-yard Freestyle event, Fultz placed fifth with a time of 1:03.64 to add another 10 points to the total, Frieling finished seventh with a time of 1:09.09 to earn seven more points, and Calhoun placed tenth with a time of 1:10.54, adding another three points to the team total.

Competing in the 500-yard Freestyle, Cassidy placed second with a new best time of 6:25.72 to bring home 13 points, Huelat placed fifth with a 7:11.89 for another 10 points, and Polley took seventh with a 7:24.19, adding seven more points.

For the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Cassidy, Fultz, Wallace, and Housh took second with a time of 1:59.27, earning 26 points. Calhoun, Frieling, Juliana, and Olivia Wright placed fifth with a time of 2:10.64, and racked up another 20 points to the team score.

During the 100-yard Backstroke Dininger took fourth with a time of 1:19.16, earning 11 points, and Dixon came in fifth with a time of 1:19.31, bringing home 10 points. Juliana placed 10th with a time of 1:40.87, earning the team three more points.

In the 100-yard Breaststroke, Wallace placed third with a time of 1:21.16, bringing another 12 points to the total. Polley finished eighth with a time of 1:29.89 adding another five points, and Wagoner took 11th with a time of 1:30.42, earning two more points.

In the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, the team of Fultz, Frieling, Calhoun, and Dininger finished second with a time of 4:33.79, grabbing another 26 points for the team. The team of Huelat, Dixon, Wagoner, and Polley placed fifth with a time of 5:11.97. This added another 20 points to the team, bringing their total to 331 points and earning them a first-place finish.

“This was our first trip to Seymour as a team. We were happy about the outcome, especially since we didn’t swim as well as we can,” Coach Braden McBride said. “We have a great team, which is the key to our success.”

The Lady Tigers will host the Carthage Invitational Friday, January 11, at the Fair Acres YMCA. This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
