Janice Witherspoon, 69, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020, in Carthage, MO.
Janice was born May 2, 1951, in Oklahoma City, OK to Thomas and Louise “Chambers” Lee. She was very musically inclined and sang as a tenor in a mixed quartet, The Bethany Bunch. She was an elementary educator and homeschooled her children and others. Janice was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church since 1997.
Janice was united in marriage to John Witherspoon August 4, 1973, in Burleson, TX; he survives.
Janice is survived by four daughters, Jana Kaye Witherspoon of Portland, TX, Jami Lynn Shetler of Westminster, CO, Julie Christine Tippel of Claremore, OK and Joy Elizabeth Witherspoon of Johnstown, CO; one son, John Mark Witherspoon of Webb City, MO; thirteen grandchildren; and one sister, Cynthia Brown of Flower Mound, TX. Janice is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Bethany Baptist Church. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Bethany Baptist Church (the corner of Harmony Rd. & County Rd. 90) east of Carthage. Burial will be at Dudman Springs Cemetery.
